CEU Course Description

“Strengthening Tolerance and Diversity in the School Environment” is designed for educators seeking to create inclusive and equitable learning environments where diversity is embraced, and tolerance is fostered. Through a series of engaging sections, participants will explore foundational concepts, practical strategies, and evidence-based approaches to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in schools. Rooted in foundational principles of diversity and tolerance, this course explores the interconnectedness of these concepts within the educational context. In this course, participants will learn about (1) the foundational concepts of diversity and tolerance, recognizing their pivotal role in preparing students for success in a diverse world, (2) strategies for addressing bias and prejudice, empowering educators to create environments where all students feel valued and respected, and (3) practical approaches for promoting inclusivity, including curriculum development and student empowerment initiatives.

1. Recall the impact of biases and prejudices on individuals and communities.
2. Define diversity and tolerance within the school environment.
3. Summarize strategies for creating an inclusive school environment.
